About Us
Technology has always been part of my life, however when I was a kid in the New Millenium it was considerably different. As I grew up, so did the technology. Phones went from small devices that could only make calls, to small computers that can do anything. Computers became smaller and more powerful. Concurrently, video games transformed from simple 2-dimensional games like Pac-man or original Mario brothers to massive 3-dimensional adventures with stories rivaling movies. My life consisted of playing video games after school, at sleepovers with friends, and eventually online with those same friends. The more video games and technology advanced, the more I became captivated by it. This intensified in high school and college to the point that it is all I did. My mind was always preoccupied with video games. I would wake up, play video games, eat, and go to bed. This lifestyle is something that is becoming more and more common today. Video games have become a staple in the majority of youths' lives. As a person who has lived this lifestyle, I know what it is like to be in this situation. I not only understand what it is like to want to play video games all day long, but also the effect that it can have on a person. Through personal experience I have learned an over reliance on media and technology is not healthy. My goal is to use my experiences and knowledge to help others overcome a reliance on technology and teach them how to use it in a smart and healthy manner.
Video games as a whole have become more of a universal pastime than ever. Knowing what goes on in this world is very important. For example, we need to understand where developers take their inspiration, what messages are being taught, as well as what intentions are behind the games. Because I have been following the video game world ever since I was in high school, I have come to understand the importance of researching a game before playing it. Unfortunately, not everything is labeled on a box. For example, sometimes an online community is a bad influence or through online updates different storylines could be introduced which do not align with your morals. My goal is to provide a space where both parents and students can identify what games, new and old, are safe to play, and what games are dangerous. I understand that games go past just what is on the screen; whole communities and fan bases form around them. Sometimes these fan bases can be vulgar or even hostile. These are just a few things that need to be considered whenever we choose to give our time to a game or other media.
In addition, with these video games being more prominent, more students are staying home and not going out. I want to reach these youth. But how do you reach these youth when they themselves do not come to church or leave the house? You have to bring God into their space. By using videos, I hope to reach into that space to come alongside them and share the Good Word with them.
