Things to consider

The game has a wonderful story built around a grieving family. If you can look past the gore and foul language then this is a great game to dive into and see how grief can affect different people and how that affects the people around them.
The community around the game is rather tame for the most part, but as with any other single player game I would be cautious of the mods you can download as there is some not safe for work mods that can be accidentally found if you play the game on PC.
